Mid Century Teak Radio (120v)

Mid-century AM/FM radio, made in Japan, with a long, low cabinet in teak finish, black woven grilles, and knurled metal knobs. The look is pure late-60s/early-70s modern—clean lines, silver trim, and a horizontal dial that is truly 'period-correct'. It plays well (solid-state, AM/FM with AFC) and would look heroic on a credenza, bookshelf, lobby console, tallboy dresser, or film set. Excellent vintage condition with light edge marks only; dial and face are clean. Dimensions 44.5 × 19.1 × 12.7 cm (17.5 × 7.5 × 5 in). 120 V AC; a simple step-down transformer lets you use it on 220–240 V (See **Note below). Rear screw posts accept a basic FM dipole if you want stronger reception. A handsome, working accent piece that brings authentic MCM warmth to any room or production. *Small nicks and scratches as photo'd. * Some scratching in the potentiometers (noises when turning the knobs). Both issues are easily remedied by anyone handy. Only the radio is for sale, other items pictured are not included. More Information - AGS = American General Supply (Canada) Ltd., a Montreal distributor/importer that sold Japanese-made radios and hi-fi gear in the late-1960s/1970s. Styling, “solid state” marking, AFC on the band selector, and “Manufactured in Japan for AGS” all point to late 1960s–early 1970s. **Note: this unit ONLY works on 120v power supply only and will NOT work directly from 220v (such as in Malaysia or UK) doing so will damage the electronics. A (minimum 50w) step-down transformer, such as one pictured in the ad, is required (and will be provided upon request) if you plan to use the radio in a 220v environment.
